This web-based subscription service is designed to report, track, and manage alerts and recalls. RASMAS provides the first comprehensive system to report and track product and safety alerts for virtually all products used within health care organizations. Mitretek developed RASMAS to improve the content and readability of alerts and safety notices, create more efficient workflow processes, provide management oversight tools and information, satisfy JCAHO, FDA, and other audit requirements, and ultimately reduce staffing costs. RASMAS requires no software implementation and minimal training time.

Through a survey conducted by AHA, it was ascertained that there was no automated way to handle and track product recalls and alerts. Mitretek is a well-respected company in the area of knowledge management and has the expertise in developing and maintaining systems. The product was developed in conjunction with Johns Hopkins.

The Service has been designed to work equally well for a large multi-hospital system as well as a small freestanding hospital. There are escalation features to ensure that a product alert does not go unnoticed. Given that the service is offered as an ASP model, it is a very affordable way to make an immediate impact on patient safety. Mitretek aggregates alert notices in a standard consistent format and duplicate alerts are eliminated prior to receipt by subscribers. This ensures that a hospital only receives the information it needs in an easy to use format.
