Anthony J. Burke

Tony began his career with the American Hospital Association (AHA) in 1997 and today as senior vice president serves on its executive committee. He also serves as president and CEO of AHA Solutions, a for-profit subsidiary of the AHA.

During his nearly 20-year tenure with the AHA, Tony has increased the demand of the AHA Endorsement and collaborative partnerships, providing significant value to health care providers and turning the endorsement into a valuable differentiator for products and services serving health care. Under his leadership, the National Healthcare Career Network launched in 2009 and has since aligned more than 320 professional associations and specialty societies to address the nation’s health care workforce shortages.

Tony brings nearly 25 years of business marketing expertise. His wide ranging experience comes from serving national clients at one of the world’s leading marketing/communications firms and managing financial communications for a Fortune 50 consumer product company in Chicago. Tony was principal of his own marketing consulting firm in Chicago, where he counseled AHA Solutions, as well as other local and national organizations.

Tony earned his degree in marketing from California State University at Fullerton. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, Health Care Compliance Association and the American Society of Association Executives. Tony serves on the boards of AHA Solutions, Inc. and AHA Services, Inc.

Most recently, Tony launched the ProActive Kids Foundation, a private 501(c)3 foundation to address the social, health, and personal issues related to childhood obesity in local communities. In this capacity, he also serves on several advisory boards for organizations focused on child health and obesity.

Tony lives in Wheaton, IL and has three daughters, Alexandra, Claire and Gabrielle. In July 2012, he married Nicole (Nicki) Klinkhamer, a marketing consultant. Nicki is now also serving as executive director of the ProActive Kids Foundation.
