Walter J. Fahey, MBA

In his current role, Mr. Fahey is responsible for Information Technology, including telecommunications. Under his guidance, Maimonides has won many prestigious awards, including the ComputerWorld Smithsonian Award in 1998, The Nicholas E. Davies Award in 2002, and the American Hospital Association's "Most Wired" and/or "Most Wireless" 1999 to 2011. Mr. Fahey was also instrumental in the development of the Heal 1, 5, 10 and 17 Grant applications to develop the Brooklyn Health Information Exchange (BHIX).

In addition to serving on the AHA Solutions Inc. Board of Directors, Walter sits on the Advisory Board for OneView Healthcare, Aruba Advisory Group, Unisys National Exchange Forum, Former Verizon Healthcare Advisory Group AllScripts Executive Forum, NextGen Advisory Board. He is also a member of College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), and Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), HANYS Healthcare Association of New York State, HIT Strategy.

Mr. Fahey came to Maimonides Medical Center in 1995 from The Hospital for Joint Diseases. With more than 25 years of experience in healthcare IT, Mr. Fahey also held IT leadership positions at Baxter Health Care, St. Vincent’s Medical Center and The New York Methodist Hospital. Earlier in his professional IT career, he worked in manufacturing, retail and computer services.

Mr. Fahey has an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.
