The AHA Exclusively Endorses Credentials Verification Solutions from Verisys
The American Hospital Association (AHA) today announced it has exclusively endorsed Credentials Verification Solutions from Verisys®. AHA Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of the AHA, awards the AHA endorsement to products and services that help member hospitals and health care organizations achieve operational excellence. The Credentials Verification Solutions from Verisys were selected for the exclusive endorsement following an extensive due diligence process.
Initial research conducted by AHA Solutions identified that credentialing was not only an important operational function, but a critical need of today’s hospitals, especially as the focus of health care delivery increasingly shifts toward quality of care. For hospitals to focus on improving care, they must verify that their practitioners comply with licensing board and accrediting organization requirements. Verisys, a credentials verification organization (CVO) accredited by URAC, a leading health care accreditation organization, and certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), is positioned to help hospitals meet that challenge.
Verisys offers an extensive array of objective primary source data specifically designed to help hospitals verify and validate persons, professionals and businesses. Its Credentials Verification Solutions are provided to clients based on their specific requirements and meet or exceed standards set by The Joint Commission, DNV and Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP). Among Verisys’ solutions is CheckMedic™, a new online platform that shifts the management of credentials from hospitals to individual practitioners. By transferring the credentialing responsibility, CheckMedic can potentially alleviate costs for hospitals and simplify application processes for practitioners.
“Verifying the licenses, backgrounds and credentials of hundreds — even thousands — of health care providers can be a major undertaking for hospitals of all sizes, especially in light of workplace shortages and limited budgets,” said Anthony Burke, CEO of AHA Solutions. “Through our due diligence process, we found that the services offered by Verisys provide hospitals with an accurate, efficient solution for validating practitioners’ credentials, enabling them to ensure high levels of care while simultaneously safeguarding their organization’s image throughout the community.”
According to Burke, a major component of Verisys’ value proposition is the breadth and depth of data it maintains, combined with years of experience navigating that data. Equally important is Verisys’ strong standing in the health care industry, proven by its dual certification as a CVO through both NCQA and URAC. “Verisys is constantly looking for ways to improve its value and how CVOs deliver services, as demonstrated by its new CheckMedic product,” said Burke.
“We’re honored to have been selected as an AHA-endorsed partner,” said Verisys’ Chief Operations Officer and Co-Founder John Benson. “We look forward to working with the AHA in transforming credentialing from a tedious, time-consuming process into one that is paperless and streamlined, benefiting all stakeholders — hospitals, providers and patients.”
