MSC and Cape Regional Medical Center Partner to Improve Cost, Quality and Outcomes

Hospital leaders, industry experts discuss business and clinical outcomes growth through partnership at the American Hospital Association Leadership Summit

Having the right people at the table for significant business decision making is vital to accelerating business growth and achieving clinical and operational goals. The 22nd Annual American Hospital Association (AHA) Leadership Summit, July 20-22, 2014, in San Diego, featured a prestigious panel of hospital executives and health care experts discussing how partnerships have positively impacted their objectives.

Joanne Carrocino, President & Chief Executive Officer of Cape Regional Medical Center located in Cape May Court House, New Jersey, was among the panelists. Ms. Carrocino shared insight drawn from a multi-year partnership that Cape Regional, a clinical affiliate of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, has enjoyed with MSC, a health care performance improvement company that advances clinical quality and patient safety to reduce mortality and control costs. “MSC has earned a seat at the table as a true partner in Cape Regional Medical Center’s sepsis quality improvement program,” says Carrocino. “By delivering actionable data, expert clinical staff and advanced educational technology, MSC’s Sepsis Quality Solution has enabled us to exceed our “CQO” (Cost, Quality, Outcomes) goals.”

Ms. Carrocino spoke to Cape Regional Medical Center’s sepsis CQO results achieved through partnership with MSC including:

  • 31% Cost reduction
  • 200% Improvement in compliance to the Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) Guidelines
  • 15% Mortality reduction
