The American Hospital Association Extends Its Exclusive Endorsement of Credentials Verification Solutions from Verisys

The American Hospital Association (AHA) today announced it has extended its exclusive endorsement of Credentials Verification Solutions from Verisys. Following the AHA Signature Due Diligence Process™, AHA Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of the AHA, awards the AHA Endorsement to products and services that help member hospitals and health care organizations achieve operational excellence.

Initial research conducted by AHA Solutions identified that credentialing was not only an important operational function, but also a critical need as hospitals move from a payment system that has reimbursed for procedures performed to one that focuses on quality of care. To ensure high-quality delivery of care, hospitals must verify that their practitioners comply with licensing board and accrediting organization requirements. Verisys, a credentials verification organization (CVO) accredited by the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), is positioned to help hospitals meet that challenge.

Verisys offers an extensive array of objective primary source data specifically designed to help hospitals verify and validate persons, professionals and businesses. Its Credentials Verification Solutions are provided to clients based on their specific requirements and meet or exceed standards set by The Joint Commission, DNV and Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP). Among Verisys’ solutions is CheckMedic®, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution that shifts the management of credentials from hospitals to individual practitioners. By transferring the credentialing responsibility, CheckMedic can help minimize administrative time and costs for hospitals and simplify application processes for practitioners.

“Verifying the licenses, backgrounds and credentials of hundreds — even thousands — of health care providers can be a major undertaking for hospitals of all sizes,” said Anthony Burke, senior vice president of the AHA, and president and CEO of AHA Solutions, Inc. “Through our due diligence process, we found that the services offered by Verisys provide hospitals with an accurate, efficient solution for validating practitioners’ credentials, enabling them to ensure high levels of care while streamlining operations.”

According to Burke, the AHA extended its endorsement because of the breadth and depth of data Verisys maintains, its years of experience navigating that data and its swift credentials verification turnaround. Equally important is Verisys’ strong standing in the health care field, proven by its dual certification as a CVO through both NCQA and URAC. “Verisys is committed to developing innovative technology to improve the accuracy, speed and ease with which hospitals can verify practitioners’ credentials, as demonstrated by its CheckMedic product,” said Burke.

“We’re honored that the AHA has chosen to extend its endorsement of our Credentials Verification Solutions featuring CheckMedic,” said Verisys’ chief operations officer and co-founder John Benson. “We look forward to continuing to work with the AHA in transforming credentialing from a cumbersome, time-consuming process into one that is paperless and streamlined, benefiting all stakeholders — hospitals, providers and patients.”
