Where Have All the Inpatients Gone?
Succeeding in a Community-Centric Health Care Environment

  • Event Date:
  • Event Time: Noon Central

Earlier this year, Kaufman Hall published findings from a research study designed to gauge the transformation of the delivery system from an inpatient-centric model to an outpatient-centric model emphasizing community health. Results of the Chicago-area study show that, through behavioral and structural changes, the inpatient-centric health care model is starting to transition to a community-centric model. During this webinar, two of the study’s co-authors, Managing Director Mark Grube and Senior Vice President Rob York, will discuss the findings and share perspective on the actions that hospital leaders need to take to position their organizations for success in the transformed health system.

Mr. Grube and Mr. York will present findings of the study and identify the strategies that hospitals and health systems across the nation can use for success in the new outpatient-centric, community-focused business model, including:

  1. Rightsizing the business
  2. Reengineering care delivery
  3. Achieving operating sustainability
  4. Changing economic incentives

Attendees Will Gain Insights on How To:

  • Gauge the level of inpatient vs. outpatient volume their organization can anticipate moving forward
  • Expedite progress in getting physicians to rethink and reshape care delivery under value-based arrangements
  • Ensure the newly redefined care platform has a cost structure in line with expected revenue
  • Identify the capability and intellectual capital gaps that may exist to execute on the new platform
